Verification of the Conceptual Structures of Learned Resourcefulness in Exercise

Abstract
PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was to analysis of the Conceptual Structure of Learned Resourcefulness in Exercise and its Validity. Learned resourcefulness is a cognitive-behavioral repertoire of coping skills by which an individual controls the potentially disturbing effects on the performance of daily activities(Rosenbaum, 1990). Learned resourcefulness is acquired formally and informally throughout life, and it involves the ability to engage in non-negative thinking, solve problems, and believe in one's ability to manage adversity.

METHOD: The subjects of this study were 375 men and women who participated in exercise. For this purpose, the analyze of responses was verified through exploratory factor analysis, confirmatory factor analysis, correlation analysis.

RESULT: Exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis demonstrated that Learned Resourcefulness in exercise has a six factor structure(i.e., self efficacy, overcoming willingness, goal management, problem solving, pain control, irrational thinking control) with 25 items. There was statistically significant relationship between factors of learned resourcefulness in Execise.

CONCLUSION: It was found that the Conceptual Structure of Learned Resourcefulness in Exercise was identified validity, will be useful for measuring to general and understanding the relationship between exercise behavior and psychological skill. This study suggested useful information about exercise behavior and exercise intervention.
